The Woman of Many Talents...
Besides being a dancer and designer, Lauren's work experience stretches into the Administrative spectrum. In 2009 she was the Executive Administrative Assistant for Happendance Professional Dance Company's annual Summer Community Dance Project. That following year she was hired to design marketing materials for Happendance's Concert, "The Body" in 2010. That same year, Lauren was entering her fourth year of being a dancer for the LCC Repertory Company when she asked to be the Assistant Director of Lansing Community College's Spring Concert.
After graduating from Lansing Community College, Lauren decided to finish her dance degree at Eastern Michigan University. After a year of being in the program she was elected Vice President of EMU's Dance Forum Organization. The following year she elected President in 2012. While being in charge of a Campus Student Organization Lauren had to network with other organizations, fundraise, run meetings, speak at events, and be a liaison between dance students and faculty within the dance program. One of her favorite parts of being a representative from the dance program was speaking at Explore Eastern encouraging potential dance students to study at EMU.
In her last year at EMU she took on a public relations role for EMU Relay For Life and public relations for EMU's Senior Dance Gallery Concert. Being a graphic designer has landed her many jobs where she has to market and/or promote an event. Her energetic and up beat attitude has made her very personable and approachable to others. In Spring 2013 Lauren was the Assistant Director and Producer of the (DIA) Detroit Institute of Art Video Dance Project with Dr. Joanna McNamara, and master class mediator and Graphic Designer for Dance In The Mitten Dance Festival (DiTM).
Life after college has brought many performance and teaching opportunities her way. Along with teaching all over Mid Michigan for studios, gyms, festivals, and pageants she has had the opportunity to choreograph for dance companies in the area as well. Currently, Lauren is getting ready to present a piece at the Regional Dance America this coming Spring.
